Tara Sage
Tara Sage’s work explores the quiet strength and restorative presence of the natural landscape. While the sea remains a significant and enduring influence, her practice includes broader landscapes that carry the same sense of calm and reflection. Tara is drawn to the moments when sky meets land or water in gentle transition, when early morning light softens the horizon and creates space for stillness. These scenes offer a sense of grounding that she aims to carry into each painting.
Using brushes and palette knife, Tara builds layers of texture and atmosphere; focusing on subtle shifts in colour, the movement of clouds, and the interplay of light across open spaces. Tara avoids the presence of figures so the viewer may engage directly with the landscape and experience an uninterrupted connection with the scene.
The sea has been a consistent source of grounding throughout Tara’s life, shaped by years of living near coastlines and by a personal search for clarity, openness, and solitude. As her practice evolves, Tara continues to return to expansive horizons, whether coastal or inland, as a symbol of possibility. She seeks to create paintings that offer a moment of pause and a place for quiet contemplation.
Tara currently resides in Columbus, Ohio, USA.
